The United Way helps fund numerous programs in Crawford, Franklin, LeFlore, Logan, Sebastian and Sequoyah counties. The majority of these programs focus on education, financial stability and health. The donations helped fund many of these programs throughout 2020 and into 2021. Nonprofits administering these programs include the Community Services Clearinghouse, Fort Smith Boys & Girls Clubs, Literacy Council of Western Arkansas, Next Step Homeless Services and many others.

“United Way of Fort Smith Area is thankful and blessed to have the overwhelming support of the leadership and team members of Arvest Bank in so many areas of service,” said Eddie Lee Herndon, president of the United Way of Fort Smith Area. “Arvest has demonstrated over and over through the years and especially during times of community crisis such as the 500-year flood and COVID-19 that its support as an organization is unwavering. Arvest associates are truly real-life game-changers!”

“The leadership and volunteers of the United Way of Fort Smith Area continue to identify and address the needs of so many people in our communities, and we know that they maximized the donations from Arvest Bank to the best of their ability,” said Roger Holroyd, president of Arvest Bank in Fort Smith and the River Valley. “During these challenging times, we are proud to support the United Way of Fort Smith Area and look forward to being a vital part of United Way in 2021.”

Some of the United Way’s own programs promote literacy among children, provide school supplies, assist with financial education and tax filing, advocate for quality and affordable health services and provide assistance during disaster recovery.
