The month of February is a time to celebrate Black life, history, and culture and the many individuals who have contributed to the unique fabric of our society. It’s also a time to take meaningful action in support of the values and causes that represent Black History Month.

Earn rewards on your everyday purchases.

One way Arvest is challenging our associates and customers to engage in Black History Month this year is through a challenge called Power Through Purchase.

For every $100 spent at locally-owned businesses, $58 remains within our communities, strengthening local economies and creating opportunities for future generations. When Black businesses thrive, they create jobs, build wealth, and reinvest in neighborhoods that have historically faced economic barriers.

At Arvest, we believe in creating a culture of engagement and belonging. Associate Impact Groups (AIGs) are associate-led organizations that provide opportunities to increase learning through exposure to various perspectives, support professional development, and serve as a resource for innovation. The Power Through Purchase initiative, spearheaded by our BAAM! AIG, challenges each one of us to make at least five purchases from Black-owned businesses this month. Whether it’s your morning coffee, weekend brunch, beauty products, professional services, or retail therapy – redirect your regular spending to support Black entrepreneurs.

But don’t stop there. Whether you have Black-owned businesses you regularly support, or you discover a new one, tell your friends and followers about it, too! No amount of financial contribution is too small. It’s the act of each individual coming together to support these retailers that will help create lasting change.

Harnessing your purchase power as a patron all year long is just one more way to demonstrate throughout our communities how #TogetherWeThrive.
