Talk Business & Politics recently released the winners of its second annual Talk Business & Politics Western Arkansas Business Award program and we are pleased to announce Arvest – Fort Smith brought home the top prize in the Business of the Year category. Talk Business & Politics is a news website that covers business, politics and culture in Arkansas.
The Business of the Year category recognizes businesses with 300 or more employees.
“Unlike some area recognition programs, nominees and those chosen to receive category awards were not solicited for advertising related to the program, nor did the selection process include a social media push for votes,” Talk Business & Politics wrote in its online announcement*. “Factors for selection in the Talk Business & Politics Western Arkansas Business Award program included the success of the business, philanthropic efforts, leadership in the business community, and activities outside the region that reflect well on the region.”
The program was launched in 2019 “to not only highlight efforts of businesses, nonprofits and startup operations, but to consider their future impact on the Fort Smith region.”
“It was again a tough process to select among all the excellent nominations received,” Talk Business & Politics president and executive editor Michael Tilley said in the announcement. “Even with the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses and organizations in the Fort Smith metro continue to be engaged in the community in often far-reaching and innovative ways. We’re proud to be able to recognize their business success and civic input.”
Honorees will receive special recognition from Talk Business & Politics through a virtual event in early January.
“We are honored to be recognized in this way by Talk Business & Politics,” said Roger Holroyd, president for Arvest in Fort Smith and the River Valley. “Our mission statement is, ‘People helping people find financial solutions for life’ and we have had to find some new ways to do that this year. The credit for our success goes to our associates. They have adapted to the new reality and continued to offer exceptional service to our customers.
“We also strive to be a strong community partner and are truly committed to improving the places where we live, work and play. We trust that this award reflects that commitment and we want to assure our customers and community members that it inspires us to do even more.”
