Children in Logan County, Ark., will receive help thanks to a $4,500 donation from the Arvest Foundation to the Helping Our Kids Foundation in Scranton.
The gift was announced today at the American Legion Building in Scranton. Tami Moffet, assistant branch manager of Arvest Bank was on hand to present the check.
The funds will help the Helping Our Kids Foundation to provide basic needs, such as food and clothes, to children in the Scranton school district.
“Thank you so much for your grant of $4,500,” said Helping Our Kids consultant Lillie Brewster. “This will help feed lots of hungry students. We partner with the school to provide food for the school backpack program. We have 43 elementary students on the backpack program and two volunteers who pack and distribute the backpacks each Friday so the students don’t go hungry over the weekend. Our main goal is to ensure that students have food over the weekend and warm clothing, shoes, coats, etc. in the wintertime.”
“We are pleased to present this donation on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to support the Helping Our Kids Foundation team, which has dedicated it’s time to providing and improving the lives of our students in the Scranton area,” Moffet said. “I personally have seen the generosity of this foundation and have been deeply moved by the areas they have been able to help the children.”
