Future School of Fort Smith (Ark.) students will benefit from a $6,000 donation from the Arvest Foundation.
The gift was announced recently at the Future School of Fort Smith. Mike Jacimore, Roger Holroyd and Beth Presley of Arvest Bank were on hand to present the check to Brett Roberts, the outdoor education program director for the Future School of Fort Smith.
The funds will help support the Future School of Fort Smith’s summer outdoor program and pay for students to have access to equipment, qualified instruction and transportation to all Future School activities.
“This money will continue our mission of taking low-income and minority students safely into the outdoor space for free,” Roberts said. “Cost is the largest barrier of entry into the outdoors and one that many students have trouble overcoming. We will use this donation to purchase kayaks, equipment and a kayak trailer to transport our students and gear to various multi-day outdoor experiences. We are incredibly grateful for the Arvest Foundation’s generous support in this venture.”
“We are pleased to present this donation on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to the Future School of Fort Smith to assist in funding the summer outdoor program,” said Holroyd, president for Arvest in Fort Smith. “The learning opportunities afforded by participation in outdoor activities are invaluable. Our partnership with the Future School will help ensure that students have this experience for years to come.”
