Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas will host the 23rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Big Creek Golf and Country Club in Mountain Home.
Proceeds from the annual tournament benefit area nonprofit organizations that are chosen after an application process. The organizations that will benefit from the 2019 Charity Golf Tournament include Imagination Library of Baxter County, School of New Hope, Serenity, Inc., and Sanctuary, Inc.
Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas will host the 23rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Big Creek Golf and Country Club in Mountain Home.
The Imagination Library of Baxter County is a local chapter of Dolly Parton’s international book gifting program that mails free, high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from birth to 5 to promote preschool literacy and a culture of reading at home. Children who meet the age requirement may receive books, regardless of their family’s income level.
The Imagination Library of Baxter County was created three months ago and already serves children in 282 households.
The School of New Hope, established in 1969, provides support services for adults in Marion County and surrounding areas who have developmental disabilities. The nonprofit organization works with clients to teach skills that will enable them to live as independently as possible, addressing various areas that include development, home skills, budgeting, cooking, personal management, exercise, socialization and more.
Serenity, Inc. is a nonprofit organization in Mountain Home that provides shelter and outreach to all victims of domestic violence, their children and pets. The organization also provides basic necessities, support and legal resources and education for its clients.
Sanctuary, Inc. in Harrison provides a temporary shelter, support, education, advocacy and outreach services to women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The organization also works to increase public awareness of family violence and abuse, in addition to educating the community on the resources available to victims of domestic violence.
“Residents across North Central Arkansas are fortunate to have access to the work these nonprofit organizations do for our communities and, as community partners, we want to help sustain these efforts however we can,” said Mike Willard, president and CEO of Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas. “Participation in this annual tournament has allowed us to provide $201,400 to numerous charities since it began, and we encourage our area golfers and businesses to participate and help us be successful again this year.”
