The Arvest Foundation has funded grants totaling $161,000 to 14 organizations serving Benton County so far in 2020. A full list of recipient organizations – and the purpose for the grants – can be found below.
“Making our communities better places to live, work and play is in our DNA at Arvest,” said Brad Crain, president and CEO for Arvest Bank in Benton County. “Thanks to the Arvest Foundation, we have been able to do that here in Benton County supporting a sizable group of organizations that work hard to doing work to empower and assist some of our neighbors in need. We trust these grants help represent our ongoing commitment to Benton County and its surrounding area.”
The primary purpose of the Arvest Foundation is to support local organizations doing outstanding work to improve the quality of life in the communities it serves. Through its grant program, the Arvest Foundation helps worthwhile charitable activities in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
Grants are based on recommendations from local Arvest leadership and the use of these grants varies depending on the organizations need.
- Amazeum*, $30,000 – Support capital campaign to expand outdoor exhibit, building and special programs
- Arkansas Council for Economic Education*, $10,000 – Provide funding for the purchase of a new copier
- Boys & Girls Club of Benton County*, $5,000 – Provide funding for college scholarship program
- Havenwood*, $7,500 – Provide counseling and case management for mothers and children, and play therapy for children
- Ignite Professional Studies* (Bentonville Schools), $2,500 – Provide program scholarships
- Illinois River Watershed Partnership*, $5,000 – Provide public education and implementation of conservation and restoration practices throughout the watershed
- Mercy Health Foundation*, $15,000 – Purchase needed medical equipment
- Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter*, $6,330 – Provide funding emergency shelter to assist in fulfilling basic needs of shelter, security, nutrition, clothing and hygiene, and provide funding for the nutrition program and fuel costs for transporting children to various medical and dental programs
- Northwest Arkansas Food Bank*, $22,000 – Provide extra distribution of food and support, needed due to the impacts of COVID-19, to local food pantries that support Benton County
- Rogers Public Education Foundation*, $5,000 – Purchase technology items for the skills-linked special education classrooms in order for teachers to better assist students with all types of communication disorders.
- Single Parent Scholarship Foundation Benton County*, $16,670 – Provide scholarship money
- Sunshine School & Development Center*, $5,000 – Support preschool transportation program
- The Peel Compton Foundation*, $25,000 – Provide patrons’ admission cost to the Peel Mansion Museum for one year
- Westark Area Council* (Boy Scouts of America), $6,000 – Support camp properties and service centers, and purchase camp equipment
