Arvest associates recently presented a $3,000 donation on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to Mena Public Schools.
The funds will allow Holly Harshman and Louis Durham elementary schools to purchase and implement adaptive playground equipment, which will make recess more fun for all students including those with special needs.
The gift was announced recently in Mena, and Branch Sales Manager Theresa Young, Relationship Banker TJ Bevill and Mortgage Assistant Mandy Rowe of Arvest Bank were on hand to present the check to Mena Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lee Smith, Student Support Coordinator Shanda Craig and Holly Harshman Elementary Self-Contained Teacher Emilee Johnson.
Craig expressed her appreciation to the Arvest Foundation for the donation. “Neither playground has adaptive playground equipment available, but we have students that need specialized equipment during playtime. This grant will allow all of our students the opportunity to play at recess,” she said.
“Being able to make recess accessible for every kid at these elementary schools is a big step toward making these schools more inclusive, and we’re more than happy to support that mission,” said Young. “We’re thrilled to present this grant on behalf of the Arvest Foundation.”
