Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas recently announced the winners of its 2020 Charity of the Year award. A local non-profit organization from each of Baxter, Boone, and Marion counties was selected and are as follows: Mountain Home Food Basket in Baxter County; Bikers Against Child Abuse Buffalo River Chapter in Boone County; and Yellville-Summit Schools Garden Program in Marion County.
Traditionally, funding for the awards is raised through the annual Arvest Bank Charity Golf Tournament, and this year marks its 24th year. Since it began, the program has contributed more than $213,000 to local charities. In lieu of the tournament this year, Arvest Bank partnered with event co-sponsor Genuine Care Pharmacy and committed to a $2,000 award for each of the Charity of the Year recipients.
“We are very grateful for Genuine Care’s commitment to and heart for our community,” said Mike Willard, president and CEO of Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas. “They have allowed us to recognize these deserving organizations and offer support during a year when they perhaps need it most.”
An in-kind sponsorship was provided by KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot that provided local awareness of the nomination period. A total of 14 local non-profit organizations were nominated for this year’s event.
