Young athletes in the Russellville area will benefit from a $12,000 donation from the Arvest Foundation.

Help us fight hunger in our community.

The gift was announced recently at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Arkansas River Valley. Shawn Bates, Jason McGee, Megan Chenowith, and Jessy Moreno of Arvest Bank were on hand to present the check.

Thanks to the Arvest Foundation contribution, the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Arkansas River Valley will be adding two new flag football fields to their campus.

“The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Arkansas River Valley would like to thank the Arvest Foundation and Jason McGee for the generous donation to our organization,” said Megan Selman, chief executive officer of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Arkansas River Valley. “With the funding award of $12,000, we have begun building Russellville’s first and only flag football complex on the campus of our L.V. Williamson Boys and Girls Club. This will be a site for many young athletes in our community to learn and develop skills on and off the field for decades to come.

“Additionally, having these fields on-site will provide recreational opportunities for hundreds of children who attend our after-school programs daily. With the help of Clay Cole Construction, we have begun the building process and plan to complete the Arvest Foundation Fields this fall. The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Arkansas River Valley is proud of our many athletes who grow up to play under the Friday night lights, and we are thrilled to partner with the Arvest Foundation to give even more kids bright futures that start here.”

“We are pleased to present this donation on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of the River Valley,” said Bates, who serves as president for Arvest in Russellville. “The Arvest Foundation is honored to support the many children and young athletes in the River Valley area. This donation is just one of many we have made throughout the area and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our community.”
