The Arvest Foundation recently awarded the North Arkansas Youth Center a grant for $2,000 in support of the organization’s Building the Future Campaign. In partnership with the City of Cotter, the campaign seeks to fund outdoor improvements to the North Arkansas Youth Center at Warrior Park, including court re-surfacing that will create a playable basketball, tennis and pickleball surface as well as a permanent area for handicap access and parking.

“We take great pride in Warrior Park and the youth center,” said Mark Kapshandy, president of the North Arkansas Youth Center board. “This project provides a wonderful enhancement to a very important and historic part of our community.”

“Our community helps provide us our earliest experiences of development, health and well-being,” said Sally Gilbert, community bank president of Arvest Bank in Mountain Home. “It is important to us to join in support of endeavors that help enhance those experiences and quality of life for everyone.”

The campaign also includes a matching funds challenge. Local Cotter residents and donors, Peter and Jan Peitz, have pledged to match up to $10,000 of funds raised.

“The youth center supports youth of all ages by generating community spirit, promoting community involvement, and also recognizing community needs,” said the Peitzs. “We are proud to support their efforts in promoting healthy lifestyles, relationships with family and peers and education.”
